energy star

Did you know?

that Americans spend about $40 billion annually to air condition buildings - one-sixth of all electricity generated in this country? Energy costs, urban heat island effects, and global warming concerns affect everyone. Valspar is committed to offering solutions that help conserve energy and improve the quality of our environment.

Products that earn the energy star use less energy and prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

Valspar SR Coatings

Valspar is proud to offer our customers energy star qualified Valspar SR roof products that save energy and help protect the environment, without sacrificing features or performance. Our energy star roof coatings reduce the amount of air conditioning needed in buildings, and can reduce peak cooling demand by 10-15 percent.

Products benefits

  • Reflect more of the sun's rays. This can lower roof surface temperature by up to 100F, decreasing the amount of heat transferred into a building. Valspar SR coatings have a minimum initial solar reflectance value of 0.25 or greater for low slope roofs and 0.65 or greater for steep slope roofs.
  • Emit heat more rapidly than other traditional roofing products allowing the building to cool faster. The typical emittance value of these coatings is 0.85 to 0.90 with the exception of metallic or pearlescent colors that typically range from 0.75 to 0.90.
  • Retain their solar reflectance and emittance properties over time.
  • Are available in wide array of colors including green, red, white, and black.
  • Have the same long life performance as the original formulations.
  • Often qualify for other environmentally driven programs such LEED.
